What are the places asking for?

 

Luoghidellacittà, literally translated as: places of the city, is based in Ravenna and deals with architecture, urban planning, restoration and urban infrastructures.

 

We think of design work as a methodical and shared cultural process oriented towards the search for continuity between place and project as well as the relationship between the reasons of identity and innovation.

 

Project attentive to the quality of the site, sought after in its historical, morphological, typological, environmental, landscape and social characteristics. Based on the understanding of the rules that modify, over time, the urban and territorial contexts, to rediscover organicity and measure at the various scales.

 

Architecture therefore as:

- Creative participation in a common language, synthesis of modernity and identity, rooted in the territory and in its own places;

- Search for coherence between structure, function and readability;

- Search for a clear relationship between construction principles and related forms;

- Sustainable and community modification of territory, environment and landscape.

 

Architecture as a search for beauty and as a civil responsibility.

 

To leave better places than they were found.

 

 

The studio was founded in the nineties by Paolo Focaccia whom, after collaborating with Carlo Chiappi’s courses at the University of Florence and other collaborative professional experiences, together with Francesco Pezzolla founded Luoghidellacittà.

Architect Enzo De Leo often joins the studio and, to date, a team of young architects and engineers has joined.

 

Over time, he has had the opportunity to deal with themes and works at various scales of the project.

 

territorial and urban (urban planning)

In the area of Ravenna, for productive, logistic, tertiary and residential functions, often developing, in addition to the urban plans, also the related infrastructural works.

 

architectural

with projects for:

residence,

service sector, production, trade and social functions,

redevelopment of urban spaces (in the municipality of Fiesole, in Ravenna: in Piazza S.Francesco, in the gardens of the Battistero Neoniano and in San Vitale – Mausoleum of Galla Placidia),

as well as landscape interventions (fluvial park of Castrocaro Terra del Sole), adaptation of liturgical spaces and some installations (project of the Church of Santa Croce in Ravenna);

 

restoration,

in collaboration with conservation specialists, for some important monuments of the city of Ravenna (San Vitale, San Domenico, Santa Croce and the cloister of San Giovanni Evangelista)

 

A group of companies and external designers specialized in various fields of the project permanently integrate the studio.

 

The studio has worked, among others, for Eni, Versalis, Eni Rewind, Hera Group, Autorità Portuale di Ravenna, Sapir, Cmc, Arcidiochese of Ravenna Cervia, Stepra, public bodies, companies and private individuals.
